Dr. Wallen specializes in the medical and surgical relief of foot disorders. Upon receiving his undergraduate BSc. degree at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, Dr. Wallen attended and graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1982. His surgical residency training was completed in St. Louis , MO.in 1984.He has been in private practice since 1984. A former assistant clinical professor in the Department of Podiatry at LA County/USC Medical Center and clinical and surgical instructor at Midway Hospital in Los Angeles, he has trained dozens of podiatric surgical residents and medical students in various aspects of medical and surgical care of foot and ankle disorders. He is a former clinical consultant to the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles and consultant /lecturer to the Family Practice Residency Training Program at Santa Monica/UCLA Medical Center.
As a member of the International Society for MusculoskeletalShockwave Therapy, Dr. Wallen is specially trained and certified in treating Plantar Fasciitis/Heel Pain and Achilles Tendon problems with advanced techniques such as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy ÝOrthotripsyß. He employs many of the most recent advances in non-surgical and surgical management for relief of foot and ankle ailments including Laser Surgery for ingrown toenails, warts and painful callouses. Practicing in an office with 5 Orthopaedic Surgeons including a Pediartric Orthopaedist and a Physical Therapist, allows Dr. Wallen to stay abreast of current Podiatric Orthopaedic treatments and share clinical knowledge with these highly trained specialists.
Dr. Wallen is a Fellow of the American Professional Wound Care Association, trained in the treatment of diabetic and non-diabetic wounds. He is a physician consultant to the Athletic Department for a large junior/high school and specializes in sports medicine and injury treatment and prevention for the student-athlete. He takes special interest in Podopediatrics, the treatment of children with a variety of foot conditions especially those related to flatfeet and gait abnormalities such as out-toe or pigeon-toe problems.
Dr. Wallen is an active member of the surgical staff of St. John's Health Center and local out-patient surgical centers.
